This November, join the Playwrights’ Theatre of East Hampton at LTV Studios for a special evening of theatrical delight featuring Academy Award-winning actress Mercedes Ruehl and legendary stage and screen actor Harris Yulin. Directed by Sag Harbor’s own James L. Larocca, Scenes of Mirth & Marriage: A Theatrical Evening promises a night filled with humor, heart, and exceptional performances.
About the Event
This playful, funny, and poignant evening brings together two of the East End’s most accomplished actors in a series of theatrical readings exploring the themes of love, marriage, and life’s comedic turns. The program includes excerpts from works by celebrated playwrights such as Edward Albee, Noel Coward, and Neil Simon, along with some musical surprises and classic humor, including a nod to Abbott & Costello.
Accompanied by sound and music designed by David M. Brandenburg, this staged reading offers a rare chance to see two masterful performers in an intimate setting, celebrating the joy and artistry of theater.

Mercedes Ruehl: A Tony, Academy Award, and Golden Globe winner, Ruehl is known for her powerful performances in The Fisher King, Lost in Yonkers, and The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?. Her career spans Broadway, Off-Broadway, film, and television.
Harris Yulin: An accomplished actor with a storied career on Broadway, film, and television, Yulin’s credits include Scarface, Ozark, and Death of a Salesman. He is celebrated for his deep, commanding stage presence and extensive directorial work.
James L. Larocca (Director): A longtime member of East Hampton’s theater community, Larocca has directed and written numerous acclaimed plays, including Penang and Visiting Mr. Green.
