On Saturday, April 5, East End residents gathered in front of East Hampton Town Hall along Pantigo Road for a peaceful protest as part of the nationwide “Day of Action” organized by Hands Off 2025. The event was co-hosted locally by the East Hampton Town Democratic Committee and a group of concerned citizens from Springs.
From noon to 1 p.m., protestors lined the street holding signs, waving flags, and voicing concerns about the state of democracy and the influence of powerful figures. Similar demonstrations took place across the East End—including in Sag Harbor at Steinbeck Park—and in communities throughout the country.
Organizers emphasized nonviolence and civic engagement, encouraging participants to de-escalate any confrontation and uphold peaceful action. The protest brought together advocates, neighbors, and local leaders in a unified stand to defend democratic values and demand accountability at every level of leadership.
