The Southampton Playhouse officially launched its summer season on May 24 with a festive evening that combined art, cinema, and community spirit. Guests were welcomed with cocktails and an open house, offering a chance to explore the beautifully restored theater, which now boasts four state-of-the-art screens, including the only IMAX theater in the Hamptons.
A highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the Playhouse’s inaugural Summer Poster, created by renowned East End artist Joel Mesler. Known for his vibrant, text-based works, Mesler’s poster set the tone for a season celebrating the intersection of visual art and film.
Following the unveiling, attendees enjoyed a special IMAX screening of Steven Spielberg’s classic thriller, JAWS. The film’s immersive experience in the new IMAX theater provided a thrilling start to the summer lineup.
The Southampton Playhouse, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, aims to serve the community with a diverse array of cinematic and live events.
