(Wainscott, LI, NY. . .June 2024) – LTV’s World Voices Series is thrilled to present “Music for the Soul with Sitar Maestro Ustad Shafaat Khan & East Meets West” on Sunday, June 23 at 6 p.m. This much-anticipated event brings back the unparalleled talent of Ustad Shafaat Khan, whose performances on the sitar, surbahar, vocals, and tabla have captivated audiences worldwide.

About Ustad Shafaat Khan:
Ustad Shafaat Khan, a world-renowned Indian classical musician, debuted at the Kingslynn Festival, opened by the Queen of England. As the son of Ustad Imrat Khan and nephew of Ustad Vilayat Khan, he has performed at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide, including a memorable performance with Stevie Wonder at the Bonnaroo Festival and a shared television concert with Ray Charles in Germany. His CDs have been produced by the renowned Dr. Deepak Chopra.
Mr. Khan’s performances are energetic, exciting, and educational, offering audiences a chance to engage with and learn about Indian classical music, Raags, Taal, and various instruments and techniques. His repertoire includes classical pieces as well as Qawwali, Ghazal, Thumri, and Bollywood music.
Supporting Artists:
- Anawim Avila: A composer and multi-instrumentalist with a diverse musical background, Anawim has collaborated with a wide range of artists and ensembles. His current projects include recording with the jazz/Brazilian/flamenco/jazz manouche fusion group Blás Vasco and playing bass for singer/songwriter Christina Ward.
- Rishy Mehrotra: A long-time tabla disciple of Ustad Shafaat Khan, Rishy has accompanied various South Asian musicians and has a rich background in several Tabla Gharanas.
- Tim Arnold: A percussionist with extensive touring and recording experience, Tim has worked with acts such as Days Away, Anthony Green, and Good Old War. He currently collaborates with Christina Ward and the prog/experimental group Clockwise On Fire.
