The 2025 season of Hamptons Summer Songbook by the Sea opened with brilliance over Independence Weekend as Broadway and cabaret legend Marilyn Maye headlined an electrifying evening at LTV Studios in East Hampton.
The event, titled “Meet Marvelous Marilyn Maye,” paid tribute to the centenary of Johnny Carson, who famously invited Maye to perform on The Tonight Show 79 times. Following her dazzling performance of classic American standards, Maye sat down for a heartwarming and humorous Q&A with Joy Behar.
The evening included a surprise presentation from NYS Assemblywoman Rebecca Seawright, who honored Maye with a special citation for her decades-long contribution to American music and performance.
The studio was transformed into an intimate cabaret, complete with candlelit café seating, pristine acoustics, and a gleaming baby grand piano — thanks to producers Donna Rubin and Josh Gladstone, who continue to shape this beloved East End series.
Notable attendees included Jean Shafiroff, Bill Boggs, Bruce Michael, and many more friends and supporters of the arts.
