On August 1st, the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center marked its 25th anniversary with the unforgettable GET WILD! Gala at the Southampton Arts Center. Hosted by award-winning animal advocate Jill Rappaport, the evening honored longtime supporter Zelda Penzel for her enduring commitment to wildlife protection.
Chaired by Ingrid Edelman, Jane Gill, Missy Hargraves, and Lisa Baron Schenker, the benefit brought together top-tier sponsors and animal lovers for an inspiring evening of conservation, community, and celebration. Guests enjoyed cocktails, spirited auctions, and a heartfelt program spotlighting the Rescue Center’s impact—rehabilitating and releasing thousands of wild animals across Eastern Long Island each year.
The event raised vital funds to support the Center’s mission and its educational programs, further solidifying its role as the region’s only wildlife hospital and a sanctuary for animals affected by habitat loss and human interference. With over 15,000 calls for help annually and a dedicated network of staff and volunteers, the Center continues to lead with compassion and care.
